Privacy Policy

Last updated 18 June 2026

This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

“We” / “Bukmuk” means Bukmuk Publishing, a part of iKitaab Web, a partnership firm at BW31A, Shalimar Bagh, Delhi. Questions: [email protected].

Who this covers

This policy covers parents/guardians who buy our services and the children (“young authors”) whose work we publish. Because the young author is under 18, the parent or guardian provides consent on their behalf.

What we collect

From you (the parent/guardian): your name, email, phone number, delivery address, and payment details (handled by our payment provider — we don’t store full card numbers).

About your child: their first name, age, a short author bio, and — only if you give it to us — a photo, plus the story or artwork they create (the “Work”).

We also collect basic technical information when you use our website (e.g. device/browser info and, when you accept an agreement, the date, time, and IP address as a record of consent).

Why we collect it and how we use it

We use this information only to:

  • create, edit, design, print, and publish your child’s book;
  • list and sell the book (e.g. on Amazon) and pay royalties to your child;
  • deliver author copies and provide support;
  • run the workshops, mentoring, and events you sign up for;
  • keep records we’re required to keep (e.g. tax, the signed agreement); and
  • with your separate consent, celebrate your child’s achievement in our marketing (you can opt out of marketing anytime).

We do not use a child’s data for behavioural tracking, profiling, or targeted advertising, and we won’t do anything with it that’s likely to harm the child.

Consent

By accepting our agreement and providing the information above, you, as the parent/guardian, consent to us handling your and your child’s personal data as described here. You can withdraw consent at any time (see “Your rights”) — though we may need to keep some records by law or to maintain a book that’s already published.

Who we share it with

We share data only with trusted partners who help us deliver the service, and only for that purpose:

  • Printing and delivery partners (to print and ship the book and copies)
  • Payment provider (to take payment securely)
  • Email/communication provider (to send confirmations and updates)
  • Retail platforms like Amazon (to list and sell the book)

These partners may only use the data to do their job for us. We never sell your data or share it for anyone else’s marketing.

Where data is stored and how we protect it

We store data with reputable service providers and take reasonable steps to keep it secure. Some partners (e.g. global retail or cloud services) may process data outside India; where they do, we use providers that offer appropriate protection.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as we’re providing the service and the book is in publication, plus any period we’re required to keep records by law. After that we delete or anonymise it. You can ask us to delete it sooner (see below).

Your rights

You can, at any time, ask us to:

  • see the information we hold about you and your child,
  • correct anything that’s wrong,
  • delete it, or
  • withdraw consent to our using it.

Just email [email protected] and we’ll respond as quickly as we can. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can also contact the Data Protection Board of India.

Cookies

Our website uses a small number of cookies to make it work and to understand basic, anonymous usage. We don’t use cookies to track or advertise to children.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we’ll post the new version here with a new date. For anything significant, we’ll let you know.
