“A teacup, a dollhouse, a phone at the back of a closet: in these twelve pieces an ordinary object turns out to be a door into another version of the world. Eight stories and four poems in rhyme by fifteen-year-old Saaransh Kumar, written between the seventh and ninth grade.”

Every one of these is a door. A teacup. A dollhouse. A phone at the back of a closet. A book you cannot put down. In these twelve pieces an ordinary object turns out to be a way through, and on the other side is another version of the world, and sometimes another version of you. Eight stories and four poems in rhyme, written by Saaransh Kumar between the seventh and ninth grade. This is his first book, and you can hear him grow across it. The earliest pieces here run on invention and nerve. The newest take their time and hide their twists in plain sight. All of them are in the book on purpose.
